Turkey's apparel export industry demonstrates a significant orientation towards the European market. Approximately three-fourths (75.05%) of Turkey's total apparel exports from January 2023 to March 2024 were directed to Europe. This overwhelming share emphasis the continent's crucial role in Turkey's export strategy. Factors such as geographical proximity, historical trade relationships, and robust demand for hashtag#apparel in European countries contribute to this substantial market share. Additionally, integration with the European Union Customs Union facilitates smoother trade operations, enhancing this dominance. Turkey's strategic location, bridging Europe and Asia, further enables efficient service to European markets with competitive logistics and timely deliveries.
Within Europe, Germany is the top export destination, receiving 23.44% of Turkey's total apparel exports to the continent. The top five countries also include the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, and France, in that order.
Outside Europe, Turkey's apparel exports show diversified interests, with notable shares directed to the Middle East (9.08%) and the Asia-Pacific region (6.81%). These regions represent substantial markets, reflecting Turkey's efforts to expand its reach beyond its primary European clientele. The Middle East's proximity and cultural connections might contribute to this significant share, while the Asia-Pacific's growing economies and increasing consumer spending on apparel provide lucrative opportunities for Turkish exporters. North America, Africa, and Central & South America, although smaller markets for Turkish apparel exports with shares of 5.15%, 3.59%, and 0.33% respectively, indicate potential areas for future growth and diversification.
